Step One

I sound like a broken record. I keep on promising that I'll do better, that I'll keep on track; but life and depression keeps getting in the way. I live a very chaotic life, very little sense of order or balance.
So I'm out from under my 'rents' roof, but not too far from their shadows. I've decided to try to go back to school, looking for a job is proving more difficult than anticipated in a town were the average summer temp. is in the 90's until well after sunset, there's no large community areas for at least 45 minutes by car, or 2 hours by public transit. Since I don't know anyone in the town I live in or the satellite areas getting a local job is going to prove to be equally difficult during the summer, until I can get out and get to know each of the owners.
I can't help but ask myself what I want to do with my life? I love art and sketching but I also love to write fiction and fantasy.
After much thought and debate, with all the possibilities and excuses it's time for me to just take a leap of faith and stop coming up with reasons why things wouldn't work down the line and come up with plans to make them work. My first plan, get my education. With great smarts comes money, success, power, and Wheaties. I don't really care for breakfast cereals, but you can't hate something unless you try it.
So while that's churning away, while I'm passing the General Education Diplomacy tests and gearing up to be accepted by the Academy of Art University in San Francisco for a Bachelors of Masters of Game Design (haven't decided how far I want to go just yet) I'm going to continue writing. Maybe one short story a week. That should be a good start.
It took some time for me to decide on game design, I could pursue a writing or journalism degree or maybe any other kind of graphic arts degree but Game design combines them all. Not only do I get the opportunity to learn how to write a great story, but I also get the chance to learn how to design one, get it into the hands of eager little demented players.
