Here's a recap of things past:
My two eldest daughters and my three younger brothers had all decided to band together and play the old hack and slash around a bowl of popcorn.
- Orim the Silvertongue. Played by yours truly. A Human Transmuter Wizard prince, physically stronger and financially wealthier than the rest of the party members and chock full of spell goodness.
- Torval. Played by Twiggy, the youngest at the table. An Elven miner who had been fortunate enough to be in the right place at the right time. The Party's tank with a spiked chain as well as the oldest character in the bunch (helmed by the youngest player -Twiggy).
- Firbron. Played by Tony, the second eldest of us four brothers. An Elven outcast and confident sniper. This rogue would later prove to be the highest damage dealer in the group.
- Caderayc. Played by Tweeky, the eighteen year old deviant. A half-Orc Red Dragon blooded Sorcerer who is the black sheep of the group. Not only is he the only evil character but he's also the lowest level and the youngest in the group.
- Fluffy. Played by "The Monkey", the eldest of the two sisters. A most peculiar Gnomish Barbarian merchant. I know, but Monkey really wanted to be a merchant, and to be honest the ideal of a pint sized, frothing, mauve haired monster literally jumping into battle with a sword twice her size seems funny to me.
- Pinky. Played by "The Princess", the youngest of the two sisters. The Bastard half-Elven adopted sister of Orim Witch of Life. Not very combat savvy but she filled the faithful role of healer dutifully
The "Tower of Forgotten Knowledge" starts five years after the end of our last adventure. Orim and companions have rebuilt his manor with the assistance of one of the last dragons in the land, The dark dragon Dallanteriel 'shimagoury. Stories of a a motley band of adventurers had begun to spread across the land. Finally attracting the attention of a number of people who have taken up residence within the walls of McCloud manor, one in particular is the Stable hand Teit Thorsguard who happens to be an oracle of Hu (A deity that claims to be the champion of life and all Humen everywhere). One Day Teit wakes up from a vision sent to her by her patron deity about an impending doom that they have to prevent.
Teit pleaded to her liege:
"My Lord, I must ask for your action. I just had a vision, that I think demands your wise touch.
"I was standing in a field with the loving light of Hu cast down upon me, flowers growing at my feet. A dagger's throw in all directions was shadow. Within the sun above me the smiling face of Hu himself slowly began to frown. The glade below me turned into an ocean. As I began to sink I saw a spire, twisted and gnarled. At it's base a squid, a tiger, and a skeleton climbed to the top; all reaching for the wand perched above the tower. As these creatures rose as looming shadow began to stretch from beyond the tower to her. Just before the three reached the top I awoke.
"I took this as a sign, a message from my patron. We must marshal your companions and stop this dread shadow."
It doesn't take long before Orim convinces the Elves Torval & Firbron to join the life-debted Caderayc and himself leaving his sister and the Gnome Fluffy to tend to the manor with Dellanteriel. Soon enough the group had done their research and analysed the oracles vision and found an abandoned college almost a months ride away.
Upon arrival to the arcane college it became obvious that they had arrived late to a war that was well on it's way. the college's courtyard was a warzone littered with the bodies of goblins, hyenas and gnolls. Against better judgement the troupe took on all takers and marched straight through the middle of the no-man's-land, past a dry fountain depicting a number of Celestial shield maidens and onto the college door. Before reaching the door the four ran across a group of gnolls and goblins already embroiled in their own battle over a small box. The Orc grabbed the treasure and focused on revealing it's secrets as the group progressed into the school.
They entered a spacious hall leading to the rear of the building with a pair of stairs that climb up to a balcony on the second floor. Torval, in the lead took a hastily audit of the entry hall.
