The Heart is a fickle thing

I sit on the skiff eating a piece of my hardtack, Kharon stands beside me, diligent in his duties. I sit thinking upon what story, what tale shall please an old boatman who's no doubt heard every plea to save ones soul that any mortal could concoct. Maybe a tale of daring do, or a sorrowful tale of love lost.

Love
Is it true that it is better to love and lost than to have never loved at all?

I have resigned to the station that seams to suit me best these days, that of the best friend. The one that serves and gives all yet asks for little in return besides a caring glance, and a soft caress.  The days of lustful trysts might as well be gone with the winter chill. I have neither the skill nor the willing participants to engage in such novelties. I should endeavor to rectify this oversight, but I have more pressing matters that would have me condemned to death or worse if not engaged with earnest.

Contenders
So much to take into conideration were do we start?
So the options are simple; use a system that's already been proven or attempt to create my own unique system? Although the real challenge would be to create a system of my own design, that would take the most time to create, play-test, and finalize. Where as using a system that's been designed previously would be a tad bit quicker. All the little detailed would have already been filtered thru and picked at, all I would need to do is adapt the story and concept to the right pre-made system.
