What's the big deal with religion?
It's a click to belong to.
It's someone telling you're doing things right.
It's relief from the larger mysteries of exsistance.
So, why are there so many?
And why can't any of them get along?
I was raised Athiest by my mother, but I made a descision in my teenie years (like most people) to fly my own skyboard and be Agnostic.
Wikipedia describes Agnostic as such:
Agnosticism (from the Greek a, meaning "without", and Gnosticism or gnosis, meaning "knowledge") is the philosophical view that the truth value of certain claims—particularly metaphysical claims regarding theology, afterlife or the existence of God, gods, deities, or even ultimate reality—is unknown or, depending on the form of agnosticism, inherently unknowable due to the nature of subjective experience.
Agnostics claim either that it is not possible to have absolute or certain knowledge of the existence or nonexistence of God or gods; or, alternatively, that while individual certainty may be possible, they personally have no knowledge. Agnosticism in both cases involves some form of skepticism.
Demographic research services normally list agnostics in the same category as atheists and non-religious people,[1] although this can be misleading depending on the number of agnostic theists who identify themselves first as agnostics and second as followers of a particular religion.
Wikipedia describes Atheist as such:
Atheism, as a philosophical view, is the position that either affirms the nonexistence of gods[1]theism.[2] When defined more broadly, atheism is the absence of belief in deities,[3]nontheism.[4] Although atheism is often equated with irreligion, some religious philosophies, such as secular theology, or some varieties of Theravada Buddhism, lack belief in a personal god. or rejects alternatively called
Many self-described atheists are skeptical of all supernatural beings and cite a lack of empiricalsecular philosophies such as humanism[5] and naturalism,[6] there is no one ideology or set of behaviors to which all atheists adhere.[7] evidence for the existence of deities. Others argue for atheism on philosophical, social or historical grounds. Although many self-described atheists tend toward
The term atheism originated as a pejorative epithet applied to any person or belief in conflict with established religion.[8] With the spread of freethought, scientific skepticism, and criticism of religion, the term began to gather a more specific meaning and was sometimes used as a self-description by atheists.
But not that I have had a chance to grow and gain knowledge in the limited fields that I have been exposed to I have made the descision that there are only a handfull of organized religions that I can whole heartedly join. And a few I don't qualify for.
Judesim -you have to be born into it, or take a test. (forgive me if my spelling is horrid -I'm only into my first cup of coffee)
Buddhism -I don't think I've reached a point in my life were my mind and body have harmonized together successfully, let alone long enough to constitute a dedication to harmony. Although the attempt would be beneficial, and most enlightening.
(In all actuality I would not be surprised that many of my beliefs mirror that of the Buddha.)
Eventually I chose to follow the rather personal ways of the Eclectic Wiccan. That's right, Wiccan. No I am not a Witch or a Warlock, nor am I a Wizard.
And what does that mean really?
Am I any different than you or the one next to you?
Do I believe you will be damned?
Do you believe I will be damned?
